About Helena

Helena Domenic is an accomplished painter, writer, and mystic who has shown her work in Philadelphia, New York, across the United States and in Egypt and South Africa. Helena was born in Vicenza, Italy where she was exposed to great works of art from a very early age. After viewing the Sistine Chapel ceiling at the age of eighteen months, her mother predicted she would become an artist. She holds a BFA from Kutztown University, an MA in Art Education from The University of the Arts, and an MFA from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont.

Helena's most recent publication is An Illuminated Guide to Wicca, published by Schiffer/Red Feather Mind Body Spirit, and is a visual manual for those wondering how to set started in Wicca. It is available on Schiffer's website, Amazon.com, Target, Barnes and Noble, and at all excellent metaphysical shops.

Helena is interested in and collects African Art, and teaches African Art and Art History at Cheyney University, and Drawing and Painting at Kutztown University. She lectures regularly at conferences about art and the sacred, painting, and installation at both academic and healing arts venues. Her interests include antiquities from all cultures, African and Nubian studies in particular. Her art is influenced by artists such as Leonor Fini, Leonora Carrington, Jimoh Biramoe, El Anatsui, Bettye and Alison Saar, and Agnes Pelton.

Helena has also created a Tarot deck and book, The Fellowship of the Fool Tarot, a Lenormand oracle, and a rune oracle deck. In her spare time, she enjoys studying Tarot and Qabala, and trying to appease her two cats, Ahsoka and Tinkerbell. Helena currently lives in Exton, PA with her husband Sean and their two ornery kitties.
